A Tradition of Love, Remembered and Shared

There are certain traditions that stay with you—not because they’re big or elaborate, but because of how they make you feel.

For me, May Day has always been one of those.

Growing up, my mom would surprise me with flowers every year. It was simple. No big production. Just flowers… and yet it meant everything. It was her way of saying I’m thinking of you. I love you. And every time, it made me feel seen, remembered, and cared for.

Those are the moments that stick with you.

After losing my mom, that tradition took on an even deeper meaning. It became something more than just a memory—it became something I wanted to carry forward.

In her memory, and in honor of my grandmother, I’ve made it a point to continue that tradition in my own way.

Not because it’s expected.
Not because it’s grand.
But because small acts of kindness have a way of making a lasting impact.

At Ritter Dirt & Asphalt, we spend most of our days focused on projects, timelines, and getting the job done right. But at the heart of everything we do is something much more important—people.

Our community.

The relationships we build.
The trust we earn.
The connections that go beyond the work itself.

May Day is a reminder of that.

It’s a reminder that even the smallest gesture—a flower, a kind word, a moment of thoughtfulness—can mean more than we realize.

So today, I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for being part of our community.
Thank you for trusting us.
And thank you for all that you do—because it truly does not go unnoticed.

With gratitude,
Alysha
